A Remarquable Romantical Organ (Swiss Music Rewiew, June 2004)

In einer vorhergehenden Ausgabe dieser Zeitung haben wir über Klavierwerke Rheinbergers gesprochen. Dieser Komponist offenbart uns eine ganz andere Seite seiner Persönlichkeit in seinen Orgelwerken, die eine glückliche Synthese aus kontrapunktischem Erbe eines J. S. Bach und der Klangwelt deutscher Romantik darstellen. Allzu leicht könnte ein Interpret in übertriebenes Pathos verfallen, doch diese Klippe umschifft Conrad Zwicky glücklicherweise.

Auf dem grossartigen Instrument der Bühlkirche von Zürich (Goll-Orgel von 1897 mit mechanischer Traktur) zeichnet der Organist klare Linien und ganz unterschiedliche Klangebenen, wodurch Rheinbergers Architektur wunderbar hervorgehoben wird. Conrad Zwicky, Bratschist und Organist, hat mehr als ein Opus aus eigener Feder, und man freut sich, den Komponisten und Analysten auf seinem Weg zu Rheinberger begleiten zu können.

Dennoch findet sich nichts von Pedanterie - durch intelligentes Ueberlegen wird die Interpretation spontan und natürlich. Die Aufnahme einer romantischen Orgel - oft eine heikle Aufgabe - ist bemerkenswert. Der Hörer bekommt (besonders mit Kopfhörer) einen klanglichen Gesamteindruck, der nichts versteckt von den weichen Grundstimmen und von der Eigenart des Instrumentes.
