Branimir Slokar, Trombone

Branimir Slokar
born in Maribor, Slovenia, he started playing the trombone when he was 17 yeas old. After high school he first studied psychology at the University of Zagreb, and only after he had won the first prize at the 7th Yugoslavian Musical Contest he definitely decided to study music. After he had passed with distinction from the Academy for Music in Ljubljana in 1969, he continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique Paris which he completed only one year later with the first prize. Further prizes and distinctions followed, as well as engagements as a solo trombonist at renowned orchestras untill 1980 when he started to focus completely on his solo career. Slokars musical virtuosity corresponds with his downright pedagogic ability which led him to his professorship at the conservatory of Freiburg.

Furthermore he conducts master courses in Europe, the USA and Japan. The Slokar-Trombone-Quartet has an excellent international reputation.
